Finnair, the government backed airline of Finland, will make its inaugural flight between Singapore and Helsinki Monday.
With a flight time of just 11 hours and 30 minutes, it claims to be the fastest way to get between Singapore and Europe.
The new route uses its new fleet of Airbus A350 XWBs, a widebody aircraft that claims to use 25-percent less fuel compared to its aluminum long-range competitors, like Boeing's B777. Chibok girls in tearful reunion with families

.....................................after more than two and a half years

Some of the 21 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by the armed group Boko Haram have reunited with their families, following their release after 30 months in captivity.
Shouts, kisses and cries of joy filled the room as the freed girls, who had been kidnapped along with more than 200 other pupils in the town of Chibok in April 2014, met their relatives in Abuja on Sunday.
The girls were freed on Thursday, but it took days for most of the families to reach the capital for the reunion.

‘No HIV Test, No Marriage’ Bill Passed Into Law In Jigawa

Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill which makes it mandatory for all intending couples to undergo test for HIV/AIDs, twice, in the last three months, before marriage is contracted.

Making this known at yesterday’s plenary, Chairman of the Committee on the control of HIV/AIDs, Ibrahim Suleman Gwiwa, noted that the bill intended to provide free and compulsory HIV/AID test before marriage, as well prohibit all forms of discrimination and stigmatisation against people living with the virus.

Gwiwa said the bill became imperative following the widespread of the killer disease among couples in the state.

He explained that in the bill, Sharia and Magistrate Courts would have jurisdiction to try HIV/AIDs related offences and added that, on the other hand, Association for People living with HIV/AIDs and State Agency for the Control of AIDs would be deployed for enforcement at all levels.

“Intending couples should submit themselves together to the same facility and the result should be open to them by the counsellor at the same time.

“Tests should be done twice, three months and two weeks to the marriage and the bill indicates that Shariah and Magistrate Courts in the state have jurisdiction to try offences under the law.”

A new weapon in Russia's arsenal, and it's inflatable

MOSCOW: Deep in the Russian countryside, the grass sways in a late-summer breeze. In the distance, the sun glistens off the golden spires of a village church. It is, to all appearances, a typically Russian scene of imperturbable rural tranquillity.

Until a sleek MiG-31 fighter jet suddenly appears in a field, its muscular, stubby wings spreading to reveal their trademark red star insignia. A few moments later, a missile launcher pops up beside it.

Cars on a nearby road pull over, the drivers gaping in amazement at what appear to be fearsome weapons, encountered so unexpectedly in this serene spot. And then, as quickly as they appeared, the jet and missile launcher vanish.

"If you study the major battles of history, you see that trickery wins every time," Aleksei A. Komarov, the military engineer in charge of this sleight of hand, said with a sly smile. "Nobody ever wins honestly."

Komarov oversees military sales at Rusbal, a hot-air-balloon company that also provides the Ministry of Defense with one of Russia's lesser-known military threats: a growing arsenal of inflatable tanks, jets and missile launchers, including the MiG in the field.

At a factory behind high concrete walls not far from here, workers toiling in secret with little more than sewing machines and green fabric are churning out the ultimate in soft power: decoys that appear lifelike from as close as 300 yards and can pop up and then vanish in mere minutes.

As Russia under President Vladimir Putin has muscled its way back onto the geopolitical stage, the Kremlin has employed a range of stealthy tactics: silencing critics abroad, hitching the Orthodox Church to its conservative counterrevolution, spreading false information to audiences in Europe and even, according to the Obama administration, meddling in US presidential politics by hacking the Democratic Party's computers+ .

One of the newer entries to that list is an updating of the Russian military's longtime interest in operations of deceit and disguise, a repertoire of lethal tricks known asmaskirovka, or masking. It is a psychological warfare doctrine that is becoming an increasingly critical element in the country's geopolitical ambitions.

As the Russian incursion in Ukraine+ unfolded, Moscow sent a "humanitarian" convoy of whitewashed military vehicles to the rebellious eastern provinces. The trucks were later found to be mostly empty, prompting speculation that they had been sent there to deter a Ukrainian counteroffensive against rebels.

"There is a renewed war between various factions of cult groups. It is important to note that these activities are as a result of the coffin that was paraded round Calabar to welcome Governor Ben Ayade. The parade was sponsored by Ayade appointees. The spiritual implications of parading a coffin was explicitly talked about in my previous article titled "Ayade demonizes Cross River State".

'We don't need men on this planet at all' - Nicki Minaj

The 'Anaconda' star also spoke on nudity double standard between black and white women in the industry, competing with male rappers, gender equality and lots more.

On young women’s goals, "Nowadays, I feel like [young women] see marrying into money—I think that’s a big thing now. I don’t want that to be a woman’s goal in life. I want your goal in life to be to become an entrepreneur, a rich woman, a career-driven woman. You have to be able to know that you need no man on this planet at all, period, and he should feel that, because when a man feels that you need him, he acts differently."

1,700 Indian workers arrested, deported from Kuwait says government

NEW DELHI: About 1,700 Indian workers who were arrested and deported by Kuwaiti authorities were found violating visa or residency laws of that country, government said today.

"There is no problem in the case of people who have valid work visa as their problems are solved under the agreements (with foreign countries)," Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha.

However, the task becomes difficult when workers reach foreign countries on tourist visas and then get them converted to work visas "through dubious means", he said.

It is also not possible to keep records of all such people but added that the government reaches out to assist all its citizens promptly if they are found to be in a problem in a foreign land, Singh said.

He said the government was sensitive to the needs of its workers and has "effective" agreements with many Gulf countries including Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to ensure their safety.

The minister said the government has already set up an Indian Workers Resource Centre in Dubai and will set up two more in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

Once a mechanic, Indian businessman now owns 22 apartments in Burj Khalifa

George V Nereaparambil
DUBAI: An Indian mechanic-turned-businessman owns 22 incredible apartments inDubai's Burj Khalifa, a media report said on Sunday.

George V Nereaparambil says he is not stopping at 22 and will continue to buy more if he gets a "good deal".

"If I get a good deal, I'll buy more. I am a dreamer and I never stop dreaming," he told Khaleej Times.

The Kerala-born is believed to be one of the largest private owners within the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest structure. His stake in the property came about when a relative teased him about the 828-metre building.
"A relative of mine jokingly told me: See this Burj Khalifa, you cannot enter it," he said. After seeing an advertisement in a newspaper about an apartment for rent
in the building in 2010, Nereaparambil rented the apartment the same day and
started living in it from the next day.
Now, six years on with 22 of the 900 apartments at perhaps the Gulf's poshest address under his belt, he said five are rented, and as for the rest, he's "waiting for the right tenant", the report quoted him as saying.
In an incredible sounding rags-to-riches story, Nereaparambil realised there was huge scope for an air conditioning business in the hot climate of the desert after first touched down in Sharjah back in 1976. Nereaparambil, who helped his father
trade cash crops and made money from waste at the age of 11, then went
about setting up the beginnings of his now mini empire, GEO Group of Companies.
"People in my hometown used to trade cotton, but they'd throw away the cotton seeds. Not many people knew at that time that you could make gum from those seeds," he said. Sifting through the dirt and sand to gather up the disregarded seeds, he said he would often make a "90 per cent profit selling them on". "I'd do the same with tamarind seeds too. I'd sell the empty shells on as cattle feed," he added.

Cargo boat sinks after catching fire in Dubai Creek

Dubai: A wooden cargo boat has sunk after catching fire in Dubai Creek on Monday afternoon. There are no immediate reports of injuries or causalities; witnesses say the crew appears to be safe.
The incident has occurred parallel to Baniyas Street on the Deira side, at the dhow wharfage close to Al Maktoum Bridge.
A Dubai Civil Defense spokesperson said a fire broke out on a wooden boat at dock No. 6.
The operations room received a call about the fire at 1.13pm. It is not yet clear what caused the fire.

Three teams of firefighters have managed to bring the fire under control, which had spread to other cargo waiting at the dock. G.A., a Pakistani who works in the wharfage, said a relative of one of the crew members told him the vessel was an Iranian cargo boat that was due to leave for Iran with electronics, blankets, shoes and other trade items.
“The relative told me that they were taking a nap when the engine blew up and caught fire. The fire engulfed the ship, which drifted across to docking area No. 6, where some cargo on the ground caught fire as well,” G.A. said.
Several crew members of other vessels and wharfage workers had lined up on the edge facing docks to watch the incident unfold. The crowds have all but dispersed by now and traffic on Baniyas Street is routine.
The same docking area has witnessed fires on boats previously.
Last July, a fire tore through three vessels, destroying merchandise. No major injuries were reported in that incident.
In May this year, there was a fire on a boat at the port barge in Deira.

Groundbreaking of Dubai's The Tower to take place today

Burj Khalifa

Dubai is once again reaching for the sky with the groundbreaking of the emirate's brand new icon, The Tower, set to be taller than Burj Khalifa, will take place today.
Set in the heart of Dubai Creek Harbour, The Tower, designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, is set to be 100 metres taller than Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower standing at 828 metres.
Emaar Properties launched the project in April this year. It is described by Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar as "an ambitious project on a never-before scale and design" which will require "high-precision engineering across all its facets".
Scheduled to be delivered ahead of Expo 2020 at a cost of $1 billion (Dh3.67 billion) to build, The Tower "will serve as a beacon of hope and positivity for the city and the region," he added.
The Tower, however, is not a "traditional skyscraper" but a slender tower evoking the image of a minaret anchored to the ground with sturdy cables. It will  have observation decks, hanging gardens, a world-class boutique hotel, and other tourist facilities.
Its design, chosen after a competitive pitch from some of the world's top architects, draws inspiration from the lily and evokes the image of a minaret, a common feature and distinctive aspect of Islamic culture, while the elongated oval-shaped bud and geometric texture set the template for the observation decks.
At night, The Tower will emit a 'beacon of light' from its peak featuring a 'flower bud' design as a floating element.
The Tower serves as the vibrant core of Dubai Creek Harbour, a 6 sq. km world-class master planned development that is two times the size of Downtown Dubai and located 10 minutes form the Dubai International airport. The waterfront development is centred off the Dubai Creek, the cradle of Dubai's history and culture, and in close proximity to the Ras Al Khor National Wildlife Sanctuary, protected under the Unesco Ramsar Convention and home to over 67 species of water birds.

I HAVE DREAMS TOO-Yahaya Habeeb Kayode Jaypee_D_Poet

You ask me to dance to your song
You ask me to speak the language of your tongue
You ask me to work for you yet you won’t pay me a dime
You ask me to pick limes for you from the tree of thorns
You instruct me to write you song of rhymes with the ink of my blood
Yet no gain but pain for the times I’ve spent in your world

You insist that I desist from pursuing my goals
All you want is quick increase in your wealth at the cost of many souls
Your wish is to make me a slave forever while you be the king
And when you become bored for hours I’ll have to dance and sing
And bring you things like grapes, berries or tangerine
I ask you why?
Why do want me to work for you till I die?
All for your sake, I’ve swam across thousand lakes
I’ve made my life unbearable to put comfort on your table
You want me do ten thousand things together when you know I’m exhaustedly feeble
I know you are the core
I know I might be poor
Just a little appreciation you won’t show
I want you to Know that I have dreams too
So let my dreams grow
You want me to be your chair
So that you can sit upon me as I cry in despair
You want me to be your useful slave
So that every day of my life I would be in dismay
And while you get clothed in your customized exotic dress
Old clean rags beautify me in distress
As you dine and wine
Looking healthy and fine
My eyeballs become swollen just because your juice is my tears
Your cinema, my fears
Making me sad everyday and night has become one of your daily affairs
Just a little appreciation you won’t show
I want you to Know that I have dreams too
So let my dreams grow
While I work every seconds without taking a break
Just to bake a cake for your sake
You never appreciate it
Yet my salary keeps depreciating
During the cold night, I couldn’t close my eyes
Working for you, hurting my precious life
While you keep snoring loudly on your water bed
I remember what you said
“You must finish those countless works”
Those words keep ringing in my dizzy head
You have always been despicable
Just a little mistake you would smash my head on the table
Why do you deprive me of my freedom?
Why do you chain me like a slave in your viscous kingdom?
I also wish to reach the peak of legendary
And not to slave around all day long till I land in the cemetery
Just a little appreciation you won’t show
I just want you to know that I have dreams too
So let my dreams grow

TO MY DEAR LADY SANSA- David O. Olusanya

I must either have you or nothing,
my dear lady Sansa.
The moon be mild and the sun smiling,
but life without you will be a cancer.

This is one of my delicious letters
to a lady I'll always woo.
And though I strive in slums and gutters,
her love shall purge me through and through.

The truth be told to you my dear,
life is more than a priest can see.
'Cause a time without you here,
is like a snow-flake lost at sea.

I may have no wealth or fame
or a title to grace my head.
I may bear just a common name;
to be called your lover is best instead.

What is life and a purse of gold
if I'm starved of your love, my queen?
I'd rather be a slave and have me sold,
'cause life without you is a greater sin.

I must either have you or nothing,
my darling lady Sansa.
The moon be mild and the sun smiling,
but life without you is worse than cancer.

To my Sweet Angel, Never Saying Aye (SANSA)

BEING BLACK ISN'T BEING BAD- David O. Olusanya

"Colour is a tool for beautification; not a platform for discrimination"_ David O. Olusanya.

By the interplay of cause and effect, I am proud to be an African; not by immigration, but by naturalization. I am a seed of the Black race by birth; and humorously, my color literary, does not betray that fact. I am an untainted Negro-gene and I hold my citizenship-confidence in very high esteem of my "rocking race". To crown my gorgeous Black-right garment, I am a Nigerian- "the giant of Africa", in all its positive denotative meanings. So you can call me " a Black race activist" and by holding any preliminary prompter of such at bay, I will gladly embrace such a name tag.
*** I'm a fruit of my ancestral planting, I'm the chorus of the sparrows' chanting. I'm the beauty of this bold, black race- A continent of colors, a garden of grace.***
Over the years, I have developed a peculiar passion for the black race. And the welfare, and well being of the Black person globally, have been a lump on my heart, and therefore defiled my youthful cravings for convenience and general pleasures. It has however, crawled upon my consciousness, through committed observations of the Black race, that the Black person globally seem to crowd the space of poverty- economically, socially, physically, mentally and the pile sings for the sky. The Black race and the Black grace have been trampled upon and made to floor the pathway to stardom for unworthy champions. This self-discovered fact has however, prompted and instigated questions of self-criticism and contended with my claim of the African Love:
*** Is Africa a reference Domi- Nation or a "learn from this" Damnation? Reverse is the case in the 21st century to what we used to be in the early centuries of creation; taking Egypt and Ethiopia as a reference point for the first African rulership. Historical facts have explicitly uncovered that the pioneers of the earliest civilization, were " Black head people"; that is, Africans. So, without mixing words, Africa was the frontier of our contemporary civilization. Time and space will not permit me to go into full chronological historic details.
Another question that bother me bereft bliss, is the question of whether Africans will thrive up as a self-civilized people, or go into extinction as a barbaric-civilized pupil? Like I earlier said, I don't mind to be tagged as "a Black race activist". It is an honor to be rumored as such. But that will not defect or decamp me from my party of the African posterity.
*** Why is the richest continent on planet earth, inhabited by the poorest citizenry? This question is the kernel of my discovered purpose, the passion of my potency, the drive of my dream, the reason for my abandoned repose, the interlock of my sought after immortality.
However, " there cannot be a change until we know those conformations that are determining our value systems, thoughts and the way we view ourselves"_ Mathew Ashimolowo.
This is a call for all, a duty to be desired, together to build a one African dream. And I present myself and my team as a tool for reformation; to restore the lost African Glory.
Glory to Africa!!
